1958 Ed Scott revolutionized skiing by inventing the first aluminum rod. Ed Scott was an engineer and skier living in Sun Valley, Idaho, USA. Scott's invention of the first tapered aluminum ski pole, quickly took the upper hand and replaced the earlier rods of bamboo and steel. This innovative invention was the start of a new brand: Scott. Scott quickly became a leader in the ski market and Ed Scott's initial vision of technical innovation would become a stepping stone of the brand Scott. In 1970 Scott made thier first motocross goggle, and thus was the start of their successful progress into motorsport. Scott further expanded in 1978 and opened its headquarters in Givisiez, Switzerland. Since its humble beginnings of one-man company for more than 50 years, Scott has become the market leader in the development, manufacture and sale of products for motor sports, cycling and winter sports. But the vision has always been the same as in Ed Scott's time: to manufacture innovative products with a focus on technology and design.
